Hi, I’m Maja – a 3D artist, writer, visual philosopher, sketchbook hoarder and sometimes traveler, always curious.
I didn’t grow up thinking I’d become an artist. I didn’t go to art school right out of high school. In fact, I spent most of my twenties running a business, believing that art was something I had left behind. Or… maybe something I was never very good at to begin with.
But when the life I was living no longer felt like mine and I was lost, I picked up a pen again. Not because I felt confident. Not because I thought I could “make it” as an artist. But because I needed to. Drawing became my way to rediscover myself.
That choice, to start drawing again, led me to study Computer Graphics for Games and Film at 29. It led me to sketchbooks, to Blender, to Unreal Engine. It brought me here.
Render & Roam is my place to share that process. The learning, the setbacks, the small wins. I write about art making, visual communication, creative struggles, art books, things I wish I knew earlier, and sometimes about life and travel – because moving through the world feeds my inspiration and my work.
This is not a place for polished advice by someone who has it all figured out. It’s a space for honest reflection, learning out loud, and sharing the joy (and frustration) of making things.
Thanks for being here. I hope something you find here brings a little comfort or inspiration to your own creative path.
Yours,
Maja Kippo
